How does modern chemistry better insulate your home or business?

INEOS NOVA of Sarnia, Ont., provides a wide range of commodity and performance styrenic polymers for various applications, including insulation.

EPS Silver® and STYROSUN® are the trade names used by the company in Canada. EPS Silver® polymers are used to produce block moulds that make insulation boards for applications in walls, floors and roofs. EPS Silver® polymers contain superior thermal properties that prevent excessive heat loss in buildings. In fact, EPS Silver® polymers meet or exceed the current requirements for insulation and lower energy consumption in building applications. According to the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) report released in July 2009, insulation in buildings is the largest contributor to net emissions savings. EPS Silver® polymers have proven to be a cost-effective alternative.

STYROSUN® resins are weather-resistant, high-impact, styrenic polymers specifically designed for use in outdoor applications (e.g., satellite receiving dishes, windows [synthetic wood], roof ventilation ducts, etc.). STYROSUN® uses a highly saturated EPDM (Ethylene-propylene-diene rubber impact modifier) as an alternative to the standard high/medium cis-butadiene rubber. The product is recyclable.
